All for an Icon: Why Details Matter at SealWithSelo

At Seal With Selo, we’re constantly tweaking and improving — not because we have to, but because we want to.

Recently, we decided to tidy up the footer of our website. Add some clear social links. Make it easier for people to connect with us on LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, and wherever else we're lurking online.

Most platforms were easy to set up.

But LinkedIn? That one was a bit of a saga.

Shopify didn’t support it properly in our theme, the default icon didn’t match the clean look of the others, and the settings panel didn’t even give us a box to paste a link into.

Normally, this is where I’d pass the baton to Mark — my brother, Selo’s co-founder, and a talented UX designer. But he’s been caught up in other projects lately, so I figured it was time to get my hands dirty.

After a bit of tinkering (and some support from ChatGPT), we:

  • Edited the Shopify theme code

  • Added a new LinkedIn field to the settings panel

  • Replaced the bulky default icon with a sleeker SVG that fits our style

It’s a tiny thing. Most people probably won’t notice.

But that’s the point.

Clean design, simple navigation, and small touches that make the site feel professional — that’s what we aim for. Whether it's an o ring, a bonded washer, or a social media icon, we believe in doing things properly.

So if you ever see something a bit off on our site, let us know. We’ll fix it. Probably quicker than we fixed LinkedIn.
